School boards

"Don't think for a moment that you could get past local school boards; they are the tightest little oligarchies in the whole political system."
"Lost Legacy"
Robert A. Heinlein
I suspect this was the reason I failed to get the Lion's Peace Poster programme through the school system two years in a roll and why we Lions have trouble getting students for the Lions State Band. We have not been going to the right people on the school board. Maybe I should attend school board meetings and pitch them? But this violates the principle of taking action at the lowest level.

"Take A White Guy Out To Lunch Day" 1984

I was stationed at a Navy Command in 1984 (Communications Officer). We received our messages from a major relay center(NIPSSA SUITLAND*).  This message was created by a radioman at this relay station and sent to us (or so I was told). The original message was created for some other celebratory day and I don't recall which one..
When I found my copy of this message about 12 years ago, my wife told me not to publish it. Today, I figured "why not"?

a lawyer's take on Humpty Dumpty

This is a wonderful story. Obviously, it is Humpty's fault for being on the wall. The city and the wall engineers did not force Humpty to sit on the wall.  The King's horses and men simply were not qualified to help poor careless Humpty.

Isn't the creator of this cartoon a lawyer?  He used to be before he went straight and become a cartoonist.

Nehemiah Scudder for President in 2012

Mitt
Nehemiah

Romney
Scudder

for
President

in
2012

In his novel, "If This Goes On", Robert Heinlein wrote of a future America in which Nehemiah Scudder, a TV preacher, got himself elected President in 2012. There was no election in 2016 since President Scudder formed a theocracy. The story "If This Goes On" is about the successful rebellion against the theocracy.

It seems likely that a Theocracy could not be formed in this country since there are too many religions and sects and it takes one large church to have a theocracy. Look at the theocracies that have survived in the past. The Catholic, Muslim and Buddhist theocracies of the past. Communism and right wing conservatism are probably a western religions as well.

World's Smallest Political Test

This is the World's Smallest Political Test.

The results are:
Your PERSONAL issues Score is 90%
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 20%

Liberals usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles
